It is nearly the middle of summer vacation, and though we may wish this subject would stay on the back burner a few more weeks, moms know that “back to school” is just around the corner. This is true for families participating in public schools and it is true for those who have taken on the task of homeschooling their children. Today I want to share something I am involved in developing that might prove to be a blessing to you whether you are a homeschool mom or the president of your local PTA. It is an LDS homeschool (or at home) curriculum called The Family School and for a very low cost it is available to everyone. Here are some introduction videos to this wonderful resource for those looking for a user-friendly, family-friendly, gospel-centered way to teach during school hours and beyond.
What is The Family School?
I’m new to homeschooling. Is The Family School easy to use?

While it is true that this user friendly curriculum can enrich your homeschool experience, I know it is simply not practical for every mother to homeschool her children. I would like to suggest that the Family School curriculum can be a blessing to any parent who is seeking to enrich their children’s public school experience during the at home hours of the day. For a very minimal monthly subscription all Family School lessons can literally be at your fingertips.
Family School subjects include history, geography, science, literature, art, and music. Each lesson is written so that it can be taught family style–reaching all children at the same time. Each lesson teaches a gospel principle associated the academic concept being taught, and each lesson includes assignments and activities for all ages. Parents whose children are attending public and private schools are using these wonderful lessons as a family night resource, to enrich discussion as they read great literature aloud to their children, and as summer or anytime enrichment according to interest.
The love, time, and talent being invested in this product is inspiring. My sister Jane and I have had the wonderful opportunity to be involved in creating Family School lessons. To date, Latter-day Learning has published 180 Family School lessons each year for four years. This will be a six year curriculum, and we are about to begin publishing Year 5 lessons. It is now being used to teach thousands of children worldwide.
Are you contemplating homeschooling your children? Are your children homeschooling your grandchildren? Perhaps you are a seasoned homeschooler and are looking for something fun and new for the upcoming year, or maybe your children are attending public or private school and you would love a resource that would support you in sharing learning with your children when they are home. Whatever your circumstance I invite you to come take a look at The Family School Online and see if it might bless your life. Enjoy!
