I am so excited to be here today sharing with you one of my new favorite recipes. This has been so fun to start with my mom and sisters! They have written some excellent posts, and I hope you enjoy this post! I love to make delicious food! Especially treats. Once a week I
alway try to make a yummy treat for my family. My husband is the greatest connoisseur of Twix bars! He keeps Twix in business! He really really does love Twix and probably buys one every other day of the week! Thankfully he is a pretty fit guy or else I might worry. A few months ago my friend told me that she would only come over to my house if I was making homemade Twix bars. (she was kidding) She sent me a link to a YouTube video where a lady was making homemade Twix bars. It looks easy enough but I wanted to make it even easier so I decided to make it a three-ingredient homemade Twix bar.If you know me you know my favorite cookies are Lorna Doone shortbread cookies. They are a delicious shortbread cookies that taste amazing, especially after having a baby in the hospital. I also love chocolate and caramel, so I took those three ingredients and decided to take the challenge and make a gigantic homemade Twix bar! My kids were super excited when they found out what I was making. All you need are caramel, chocolate melts or almond bark, and Lorna Doone Cookies. For the caramel I bought the Kraft Caramel Bits that you can find in the baking aisle at any grocery store. So much easier than unwrapping individual caramels.
Giant Homemade Twix Bars
The recipe is simple and easy but it does take a few steps. The first thing you need to do is melt half of the almond bark and half the caramel. Do this according to the directions on the package. Next line a bread loaf pan with parchment paper. (Tip, use tape to keep it down) Once chocolate is melted pour a quarter inch layer of chocolate on the bottom of the pan. Place in freezer for 2 mins. When chocolate is set pour caramel on top– about a 1/8 to a 1/4″ layer. Place 6 to 8 cookies on top of the caramel and then add another layer of caramel, cookies and caramel. Place in freezer to set for about 2-3 minutes. Then add your last layer of chocolate. Make sure you smooth it out and let it go down the sides of the pan. Place in freezer for 5-10 minutes. Just incase you didn’t catch how many layers…

Make sure your chocolate layers on the top and the bottom aren’t too thick because you are going to add more chocolate to finish it off. Once set pull off the parchment paper from the sides and place on two cups. Drizzle chocolate on top to smooth it out and fill any cracks. Then make it all pretty by making a little S design with a spoon. Let sit for about 20-30 mins or place in fridge. This recipe will make 2 huge bars! You can cut them up and save them in individual slices and send them to work with your husband, or you and your friends can just devour them.
My husband loves these a lot and they were a hit when my friends came over. I can’t wait to make them again!
