“Make You Famous” Brownies
I think there comes a time in every home cook’s life when he or she wishes they had a “go to” recipe that could make them famous! I’m not talking about Hollywood stardom famous, I’m talking about the fame that comes from having a recipe in your back pocket that is requested/loved/and devoured at the PTA board meeting, the Cub Scouts pack night, the office potluck, at the volleyball team party, and with your book club ladies! Well my friends, look no further. Here is the brownie recipe that will bring you the fame you’ve been looking for!
They always say the most important part about buying a home is location, location, location. Twelve years ago when we moved into our home we immediately loved the area, the neighbors, and our new friend Tasha’s chocolate homemade brownies! Over the last 12 years we have had the benefit of living right next door to the baker of these delectable bites. After living here a while I noticed that people would make requests for “Tasha’s brownies”. I have seen people go for seconds or thirds when these brownies are placed on the table and sometimes even beg for Tasha to make them! It’s sad to say, but there could be a small amount of disappointment when Tasha shows up with something other than her famous brownies (or doesn’t show up at all). I knew that I had to get my hands on this recipe and she was completely willing to share.
As far as the famous Tasha understands this recipe goes back to the small farming community of Sugar City, Idaho located just outside of Rexburg. Years ago Brent, Tasha’s dad, got a hold of the basic recipe. He did a little tweaking of the recipe to make them just perfect…and perfect they are!!! Over time a new chocolate frosting recipe was also added to make these brownies completely irresistible. Side Note: At Tasha’s home they don’t call these “Tasha’s” brownies. They call them “Brent’s” brownies. See how the fame starts?!
Now all you need to do is make the brownies, share a few of them with neighbors and friends, and watch your road to stardom and fame begin. Make sure to call them by your first name followed by the word brownies and sure enough, overnight fame will be yours!
“Make You Famous” Brownie Recipe
2 cubes of soft butter
2 cups Sugar
2 tsp. Vanilla
2 heaping Tablespoons of cocoa powder
½ tsp. Salt
2 Cups of Flour
Cream butter and sugar together until smooth. Add vanilla, eggs and cocoa powder. Mix. Add salt and flour. Bake in a greased 9×13 pan at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
3-4 Tablespoons Butter
3-4 cups of powdered sugar
2-3 heaping tablespoons of cocoa powder
2 tsp. vanilla
3 Tablespoons milk
Cream ingredients together and smooth over brownies as soon as they come out of the oven! Let brownies cool and enjoy!
Here are a few pointers from the famous Tasha.
*Make the frosting while the brownies bake. As soon as the brownies are done baking put that frosting on those brownies as quickly as you can! The frosting will then melt and cool to create the most decadent later you can imagine!
*These are also perfect baked in a larger jelly roll sized pan to feed a big crowd. One recipe will fill the bottom of a half sheet jelly roll pan in a thin layer but they will bake up perfectly. They are my “go to” treat to take to large gatherings. Just reduce baking time to 15-18 minutes.
*These are also awesome after they have been frozen. When I make these, a lot of times I will double the recipe and put them in my freezer. For some strange reason those brownies have never gone to waste!
Now, get off the computer/phone/tablet and get yourself into the kitchen. “Insert your name here” brownies aren’t going to make themselves. Enjoy.
